Organisers:
Katharine S. Willis is a Marie Curie research fellow on the interdisciplinary project MEDIACITY at the Bauhaus University of Weimar. She holds a BA(Hons), DipArch and MArch in Architecture and is currently a doctoral researcher. Her work over the last ten years has focused on exploring ways in which we interact with our spatial surroundings, and in particular approaches to understanding how we can create legible environments. These projects investigate wayfinding, identity and the transformative possibilities of mobile and wireless technologies. In 2004 she spent a year at the Spatial Cognition program, University of Bremen, funded by a DAAD scholarship.
Konstantinos Chorianopoulos holds an MEng (Electronics and Computer Engineering, 1999) an MSc. (Marketing and Communication, 2001), and a Ph.D. (Human-Computer Interaction, 2004). Since 1997, he has been a member of four academic research labs (Greece, UK, Germany), which specialize in the areas of multimedia, e-commerce, intelligent systems and interaction design. He has participated in many EU research projects in the field of human-computer interaction for information, communication and entertainment applications in TV, mobile, and ubiquitous appliances. In 2002 he founded UITV.INFO, which is a newsletter and web portal for interactive television research resources (papers, theses), news and events.
Mirjam Struppek works as urbanist, researcher and consultant in Berlin. Since 2002 she is developing the online-information-plattform interactionfield.de about the relation of interaction, new media and public space. In collaboration with the Institute of Network Cultures, and Department of Art in Public Space, Amsterdam she prepared the international conference Urban Screens 05 in Amsterdam. She is holding a degree with distinction in Urban- and Environmental Planning from University of Kaiserslautern, and worked as research assistant in the Institute for Mobility and Transport during her studies. In 1999 she spent with a DAAD scholarship two research semester at the Graduate School of Environmental Studies at Nagoya University, Japan.
George Roussos is a senior lecturer at Birkbeck College (University of London). He holds a B.Sc. in Mathematics from University of Athens, Greece, an M.Sc. in Numerical Analysis and Computing from University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology, UK, and a Ph.D. from Imperial College of Science Technology and Medicine, University of London, UK. His current research interests include ubiquitous and pervasive computing with emphasis on commerce and healthcare systems, sensor networks and navigation in ambient intelligence spaces.
